I approached my workbook and moodboard with a general idea of what i wanted already in mind. I’ve been working on branding outside of this class and have been wanting to learn how to create something that reflects the type of design that I enjoy doing without overpowering the actual work that I ultimately want to include here. This workbook was a big help for guiding me in the right direction to creating a branding identity for my website that will do just that.
I have a deep love of all things whimsical, and if it were up to me, I would only create playful, maximalist designs, but as a professional, I know being versatile is key to building a promising design career, which is why I chose my brand values accordingly. For my branding design, I wanted something that felt fun and unique, but toned down enough to where it won’t distract from the main focus of this site (my actual work).
I like the tagline “design that listens” as it pairs well with my values for thoughtful design that centers effective communication while cleverly tying into the rabbit motif in my logo. The celebrity mashup was a bit hard for me, but I ultimately decided to pick people that I admire for both their versatility, but also how intentional they all are when it comes to making artistic decisions in thought-provoking ways.
